NAIL 0000 Nail Technician Orientation0 Hours
Students in the Nail Technician program learn and perform customer service such as manicures, pedicures, and nail enhancements. This program trains students in the principles of proper infection control and sanitation, basic nail technology, and understanding chemicals used in artificial enhancements and gel nails. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the Utah State Nail Technician licensure exam.
NAIL 1405 Nail Technician I60 Hours
In this course, students will learn the history of nail technology, basic anatomy, skin and nail structure and growth, and how to recognize and prevent infections. Students will learn the fundamentals of manicures, pedicures, and perform manicures and pedicures, demonstrating current techniques used in the profession. Work must meet industry standards of quality, professionalism, efficiency, sanitation, and safety. Students will also discuss the importance of communicating effectively with clients and how to convey a professional image.
NAIL 1505 Nail Technician II120 Hours
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of nail tip application, acrylic nail enhancements, UV gel polish application, and nail art techniques. Students must fulfill all the requirements of an industry employee in performing a number of nail services. In addition, students will be taught work ethics, time management skills, and essential business skills such as licensing regulations and business law.
NAIL 1601 Nail Technician Clinicals I120 Hours
In the clinical course you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Nail Technician Theory and Nail Technician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.
NAIL 1310 Nail Technician Clinicals II20 Hours
In the clinical course you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Nail Technician Theory and Nail Technician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.
NAIL 1320 Nail Technician Clinicals III40 Hours
In the clinical course you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Nail Technician Theory and Nail Technician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.
NAIL 1330 Nail Technician Clinicals IV60 Hours
In the clinical course you will apply the principles and practices learned in the Nail Technician Theory and Nail Technician Skill Development courses as you perform a variety of services on clients in the Cosmetology salon. The clinicals will help prepare you to pass the State of Utah licensure exams.
WKSK 1400 Workplace Relations60 Hours
Workplace Relations is designed to help students develop essential work habits and attitudes as well as human-relation skills needed to maintain gainful and satisfying employment. Topics include common challenges faced in the workplace, such as presenting yourself professionally, developing a professional work ethic, developing interpersonal skills, navigating office politics successfully, and planning and managing your career.
